EKU Men's Golf Team To Play In Central Regional Of 2008 NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Eastern Kentucky’s men’s golf team will play in the Central Regional of the 2008 NCAA Championships on May 15-17, the organization announced Monday. The Colonels are making their second appearance in the NCAA Championships after capturing the Ohio Valley Conference championship in April. EKU is the 22nd seeded team in the 27-team regional. Friedrich Earns Third OVC Pitcher of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University left-hander Christian Friedrich was named the OVC Pitcher of the Week Monday, the league office announced. Friedrich was nearly perfect Saturday in the Colonels’ 10-0 victory over Samford, allowing just one baserunner in his eight innings of work, and at one point retiring 20 consecutive batters. CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Eastern Kentucky University men's track and field team finished third at the OVC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, compiling 96.5 points and losing to Southeast Missouri State and Eastern Illinois. RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University baseball Colonels fell to Samford 4-3 in extra innings of game one, and then were outslugged by the Bulldogs 14-9 in game two of Sunday’s doubleheader. Softball Comes From Behind To Beat Eastern Illinois In Series Finale

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Kentucky overcame a three-run deficit to beat Eastern Illinois, 4-3, Sunday in Charleston, Ill. With the victory, the Colonels (28-20, 17-10 OVC) win the series, but Morehead State’s win over Tennessee State locked up second place in the Ohio Valley Conference for the Eagles and left EKU in third.
