BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Senior men’s basketball player
Josh Taylor was honored with second team All-Ohio Valley Conference accolades as announced by the league this evening. Voting was done by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.
The native of Pittsburgh, Pa., set a new EKU record by playing in his 125th career game on Feb. 27 against Murray State. The forward became the 29th Colonel to reach 1,000 career points when he led Eastern with 20 points in the win over Winthrop on Feb. 20.
This year, Taylor ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.2 points per game and third in the OVC in three-pointers made per game at 2.3. He was named to the 2009 O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic all-tournament team after helping EKU post wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, UC Irvine and UTSA.
Taylor’s name will forever be remembered in Eastern Kentucky lore thanks to netting the game-winning shot, which was his only shot, in the 2007 OVC championship game.
The Colonels (20-12) fell to Eastern Illinois in the OVC tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday.
