Caldwell Earns Honors From College Football Performance Awards

Senior DB Jeremy Caldwell
RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University football player Jeremy Caldwell was named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Kick Returner of the Week for Week 2 after his performance against Missouri State.

Caldwell, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., returned a kick-off 88 yards for a touchdown to give EKU an 11-point lead early in the fourth quarter against the Bears, 21-10. In 2010, Caldwell ranked second nationally (FCS) and set a new program single-season record in kick-off return average (33.7 yards per return). The defensive back has now returned three kick-offs for scores in his EKU career.

In addition to Caldwell five other OVC players earned honorable mention honors for the week.

The goal of CFPA is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

Eastern Kentucky is back in action this Saturday, Sept. 17, at Roy Kidd Stadium against No. 14 Chattanooga. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
