RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University senior football player
Patrick McClellan was recently selected as a College Sporting News (CSN) National All-Star for his performance in the season opener at Kansas State. McClellan was one of five players throughout the entire Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to earn this prestigious weekly honor.
McClellan was part of a defensive unit that forced five Kansas State turnovers and held the Wildcats to their lowest point total in more than a year. The senior defensive back from Maineville, Ohio forced two fumbles and recovered one in the third quarter that he returned 18 yards to the one-yard line. That play set up EKU’s lone touchdown and the first score of the game by either team. McClellan also had seven tackles (six solo) and 1.5 tackles-for-loss.
The other weekly all-stars were Sacramento State quarterback Jeff Fleming, Maine defensive back/kick returner Travis Coston, Georgetown linebacker Jeremy Grasso and Wagner running back Dominique Williams.
EKU returns home this weekend to host Missouri State at Roy Kidd Stadium. The game, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10, is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
