David Brajuha joined the Eastern Kentucky Sports Medicine department in December 2007. Brajuha is the primary athletic trainer for the EKU men’s basketball and baseball teams. He also oversees graduate assistant athletic trainers working with baseball and volleyball, and is an approved clinical instructor within the University’s accredited undergraduate curriculum.
Before coming to Eastern Kentucky, Brajuha spent more than a year as an outreach athletic trainer with the University of Kentucky Sports Medicine Clinic. He made weekly visits to contracted high schools to evaluate injuries and develop rehabilitation programs. In addition, Brajuha served as the primary contact for three Lexington area soccer clubs.
From August 2005 to August 2006, Brajuha was the head athletic trainer at Kentucky State University in Frankfort. He oversaw all aspects of athletic training for nine NCAA Division II athletic teams.
Brajuha’s first full time position was as an assistant athletic trainer and clinical instructor at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. From August 2003 to August 2005 Brajuha was the primary athletic trainer for men’s soccer, women’s synchronized swimming and men’s lacrosse.
While working on his graduate degree at the University of Kentucky, Brajuha served as the athletic trainer for UK’s volleyball team. As an undergraduate at Penn State, Brajuha worked with the school’s men’s and women’s gymnastics, football, men’s basketball, softball, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams.
Brajuha earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Penn State in 2001. He completed his master’s degree in kinesiology at the University of Kentucky in May 2003. Brajuha is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the Southeast Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Kentucky Athletic Trainers’ Society. He is Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and NATA certified.
Other athletic training experiences for Brajuha include working the Chicago Bears training camp in 2000, the 2002 NCAA men’s basketball regional final in 2002, the Southeastern Conference women’s golf tournament in 2003, and the 2006 and 2007 KHSAA state championship tournaments.
David along with his wife, Mandy and son Luca, born in April 2009, reside in Lexington
