Tim Pike joined the Sports Medicine staff at Eastern Kentucky in September 2007. At EKU, Pike serves as the athletic trainer for the Colonel football team. He is responsible for treatment, rehabilitation, game coverage and facilitating all doctor visits for the Colonels.
Pike earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Kentucky in 2001. He completed a master’s degree in exercise and sport science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003. Pike is licensed by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and is NATABOC certified.
Before joining the Eastern Kentucky Sports Medicine team, Pike worked at the University of Kentucky where he served as a staff athletic trainer and clinical supervisor. During this time Pike worked with area high schools and served as the head athletic trainer for the Lexington Horseman indoor football team. He was responsible for treatment and rehabilitation in addition to supervising six other athletic trainers in regards to all aspects of clinical duties.
As a graduate student, Pike was the athletic trainer for the UNC cross country and softball teams from August 2001 to the spring of 2003. In addition to working with a pair of Tar Heel varsity teams, Pike supervised student-athletic trainers and provided rehabilitation for patients in the physical therapy/athletic training clinic.
As an undergraduate student, Pike worked closely with the University of Kentucky men’s soccer, baseball and football teams. He was selected as the Student-Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2001.
In addition to his work in EKU’s athletic training room, Pike is also an instructor in the University’s exercise science department. Tim and his wife Kelli reside in Richmond and have two sons, Kaleb and Kamden.
