Whonsetler was named Director of Sports Medicine in August 2024. He came to EKU after serving as Head Athletic Trainer at Trine University from 2021 to 2024, following five years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and three years as the Athletic Trainer at St. Henry High School.

Whonsetler earned his Master of Athletic Training from Manchester College in 2012 and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Saint Francis (2010).
