An EKU alumnus, Combs returned to Richmond as the men's golf assistant coach in January of 2025 after graduating in 2018 after a stellar playing career.
Since joining the staff in 2025, the Colonels won the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational.

EKU took the season opening tournament by 10 strokes shooting 827 (-25), the second best 54-hole team score in program history, and the best ever outside of tournaments hosted in Richmond.

The win is also the program's first outside of Richmond since March of 2018 at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
The Colonels followed the performance by finishing second in the Colonel Classic marking the third top-five team finish since Combs' return along with a second-place finish at the Mesquite Desert Classic in the spring of 2025.
As a player, Combs was a two-time First Team All-OVC selection (2016-17, 2017-18) with one individual win, six top-five finishes, and 12 total in the top-10 while playing the fourth most rounds played at EKU at 129.
Additionally he recorded the third lowest single season scoring average in EKU history at 72.14 in 2016-17.
In 2015, Combs recorded the lowest round by a Colonel at the 2015 NCAA Regional in San Diego, carding a 72.
As an amateur, Combs reached a No. 380 ranking in the World Amateur Rankings.
Combs is married to former EKU Tennis player Margaux Combs, they have one son, Elijah.
