Longtime assistant Steve Fohl was promoted to associate director of EKUSports Communications in September 2015. In the summer of 2020, Fohl was promoted to assistant athletics director for creative content.
Fohl joined the athletics department in a full time role as assistant director of athletics public relations in September 2007. Prior to that he worked in the public relations office as a student for three and a half years. As assistant director, Fohl served as the primary media contact at different times for women’s basketball, baseball, track & field, cross country and soccer. In his new role, Fohl will be the primary media contact for the men’s basketball program while continuing to serve as the contact for track & field, cross country and soccer.
Fohl spearheaded Eastern’s video and photography efforts over the last eight years and has helped the department cultivate the highest social media numbers in the Ohio Valley Conference. In his new role as associate director, Fohl will be charged with developing and overseeing daily strategies to continue to grow the social media reach of EKUSports.
“EKU is a special place to me,” Fohl said. “I’m excited and honored to continue to serve the athletics department in this new role.”
Fohl earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in history from Eastern Kentucky University in 2007. In 2012 he completed a master’s of arts degree in history from EKU.
