Former Colonel Named PGA Golf Professional Of The Year

RICHMOND, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University golfer Jack Barber has been named the 56th recipient of the PGA Golf Professional of the Year Award, the highest annual honor bestowed by the PGA of America on a PGA Professional.

Barber played for the Colonels from 1968 to 1972. He is currently the PGA head professional at Meridian Hills Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Ashland, Ky., native earned the 1985 Kentucky PGA Golf Professional of the Year Award and was President of the Kentucky PGA Section in 1984-85 while serving as the golf professional at the Lexington Country Club. In 1996 he was named Golf Professional of the Year in the Indiana PGA Section.

Barber will be recognized at the PGA of America Awards on Jan. 28, 2010 in Orlando, Fla.

The Colonels have concluded the fall portion of their 2009-10 schedule. EKU will be back in action on March 12-14 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
