BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky freshman and Lexington, Ky., native
Kristin Perry was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Perry appeared in six of EKU’s seven games last week. The Woodford County High School graduate posted a 4-1 record with a 1.54 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 27.1 innings of work. She pitched two complete games, including her first career complete game shutout.
Perry opened the week by allowing one run on four hits and striking out 13 in Eastern’s 2-1 victory at North Carolina A&T. She capped the week by tossing a two-hit shutout against Winston-Salem State. She struck out 10 against WSSU.
The Colonels will play their first home games of the 2010 season on Wednesday when Western Kentucky visits Gertrude Hood Field for a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
