RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach
Jeff Neubauer announced today that Jeff Allgood and Deverin Muff have signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Colonels in 2010-11.
Allgood is a 6-2 guard who played for Iowa Western Community College this past winter. The native of Bellevue, Neb., averaged 8.6 points per game while shooting 41 percent from three-point range for the Reivers. In 2008-09, Allgood attended The United States Military Academy at West Point. He played high school basketball for coach Doug Woodard at Bellevue West and helped the T-Birds reach two state title games. As a senior prepster, Allgood averaged 16 ppg on the way to earning all-state and all-metro honors.
“Jeff is an outstanding student who brings the ability to shoot the basketball from deep range to our program,” Neubauer said.
Muff, a 6-8 forward out of Strongsville, Ohio, averaged 11.2 ppg and 7.8 rebounds per game this past season for Strongsville High and head coach Joe Lynch. Muff shot a team-high 45.1 percent from the field while finishing second on the team in both scoring and rebounding.
“We really feel Deverin is a great prospect for EKU and the OVC,” Neubauer said. “He brings a great amount of athleticism and a 7-6 wingspan to the court that should allow him to grow into a defensive presence in the program.”
Eastern Kentucky has now signed five student-athletes to NLIs for the 2010-11 season. In the early signing period, the Colonels added Taylor Filipek, Jeff Johnson and Jabs Newby.
