Former Colonel Inducted Into Kentucky Prep Softball Hall of Fame

RICHMOND, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University softball player Kalyn Fox was inducted into the Kentucky Prep Softball Hall of Fame on Saturday. The ceremony took place at the annual East/West All Star weekend in Lexington.

Before arriving at EKU in the fall of 2005, Fox starred at Calloway County High School. She became a two-time all-state selection (2004 & 2005) while leading the Lakers to three district championships. As a junior Fox helped her team capture the first region title and the 2004 Kentucky State Championship. During CCHS’s march through the region tournament, Fox pitched a perfect game in the second round and batted over .650 for the tournament.

During the two-day state tournament, Fox earned MVP honors after pitching 41 innings with a 5-1 record in the circle and batting .381.

During her prep career Fox posted a 68-27 record with 1,050 strikeouts and a 0.60 ERA. At the plate she hit .410 with 30 triples. She was a two-time first team academic all-state selection. She graduated with a 4.0 grade-point average and was ranked first in a class of 250 students.

During her career at Eastern Kentucky, Fox won 34 games and posted a 2.97 ERA. She earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team honors as a junior. As a senior Fox was selected second team All-Ohio Valley Conference and was one of 30 finalists from across the nation for the Lowes Senior Class Award.

Other 2010 Kentucky Prep Softball Hall of Fame inductees included Elizabeth Church (Owensboro Catholic), Amanda Mills (North Laurel), Amy Meikel (Lexington Catholic), Michelle Critchelow (Grayson County), Steve Jones (umpire) and David Guild (coach).
