Final Results
MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky women’s golf team opened the head coach Mike Whitson era with a second place finish at the Morehead State/Eastern Kentucky/Marshall Tri Match on Sunday. The Colonels concluded the 18-hole event eight shots behind Morehead State and 17 shots in front of Marshall.
The Eagles led with a 4-over 292. EKU was 12 shots over par with a 300. The Thundering Herd fired a 29-over round of 317.
Four Colonels turned in top-10 performances.
Katie Wiedmar (74) and
Linda Hogberg (74) led the team and tied for fourth overall.
April Emerson (75) was one shot behind her teammates and tied for seventh overall. Playing as an individual,
Lisanne Schmidt (76) tied for ninth.
Kara Fant with a 77 and
Taylor Church with an 81 finished tied for 12th and 18th respectively.
The event was contested at the par 72, 5,981-yard Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead. The Colonels will be back in action on Sept. 13-14 at the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational in Ledbetter, Ky.
