RICHMOND, Ky. – Former Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball standout Mike Rose will be playing for Optima Gent in the upcoming 2010-11 season. Gent is a member of Belgium’s top-level D1 league.

Rose, who played for Eastern from 2005-09, finished his Colonel career second on the EKU all-time scoring list (1,763 points) and three-pointers made list (271 trifectas). As a senior, Rose led the nation in three-point shooting at 48.1 percent. He was also the first Colonel since 1980 to earn back-to-back first team All-OVC honors.

Following his outstanding career at EKU, Rose played briefly in Turkey and finished last year in New Zealand and Australia.

In New Zealand, Rose averaged 22.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals in seven games.
