The Eastern Kentucky University Dance Team will join the country’s top collegiate dancers at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., to participate in the UDA College National Championship this weekend. Teams from universities and colleges from across the country are scheduled to compete in the 2011 event.

The EKU Dance Team, led by Eastern Alum Laura Hazelwood, will compete on Saturday, Jan. 15 in the Division I Jazz category and again on Sunday, Jan. 16 in the Division I Pom category.   Through fundraising and booster support, the team raised the funds for the expenses associated with the competition.  The EKU Dance Team held an open practice and send-off celebration for their supporters on Friday, Jan. 14 in Alumni Coliseum where they performed both of their competition routines.
