Round One Results

ONEONTA, Ala. – Play at the Samford Invitational was stopped late in the second round due to darkness with the Eastern Kentucky University men’s golf team in fourth place after the conclusion of round one.

Eastern shot an opening round 297, nine shots over par. Senior Billy Peel Jr. was second overall after an opening round 4-under 68. Steven Lecuyer of Central Arkansas had a one-shot lead for first.

After round one, Central Arkansas (274) led the field of 18 at 14-under par. Alabama’s junior varsity team was second at five-over (293). Illinois State (295) had a two-shot lead over EKU for third place.

The event is being contested at Limestone Springs Golf Club, a par-72, 7,000-yard course. The conclusion of the second round will begin at 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday and the final round will follow.
