Week Two Update from Preseason Football Camp

RICHMOND, Ky. – Preseason practice #13 was spent in helmets only Tuesday morning for the Eastern Kentucky University football team at Roy Kidd Stadium. Only four more practices are left until school begins this coming Monday.

Below are some news and notes from the practice field:

--The weather for the majority of preseason camp has been unbelievable for mid-August. For the most part, humidity levels have been low and the temperatures have been mild which has allowed the players to stay in excellent physical shape.

--The Colonels will hold their second scrimmage this Saturday at Roy Kidd Stadium beginning around 8 a.m. There are still plenty of key positions up for grabs including back-up quarterback and kicker.

--Here are a few dates to put on the calendar: Thursday, Aug. 25 will be the annual Colonel Club Fish Fry at 6 p.m. Meet the Colonels night will be on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m. Both events will be held at Roy Kidd Stadium.

The weekly football luncheon with Coach Hood will be held at the Regal Beagle in downtown Richmond this year. The first luncheon will take place on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 12 p.m. The weekly radio show with Coach Hood from Gillum’s Sports Lounge will kick-off on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.

EKU opens the 2011 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Kansas State. The Colonels’ home opener is scheduled for Sept. 10 against Missouri State at 6 p.m.
