RICHMOND, Ky. – The 2012 EKU Comfort Suites Invitational, which included nine games over six days, concluded on Monday at McBrayer Arena. Eastern Kentucky captured the invitational championship by going 4-0. Towson was the runner-up with a 3-1 record.
Eastern’s

He made 54.5 percent of his shots from the field and 50 percent from three-point range. Cosey had three 20-point performances, including a season-high 21 to go along with four assists and four steals against Kennesaw State.
The All-Invitational first team included Cosey and
Mike DiNunno from EKU; Javonte Green from Radford; Kennesaw State’s Markeith Cummings; and Jerrelle Benimon of Towson. The All-Invitational second team consisted of
Deverin Muff from EKU; Ya Ya Anderson of Radford; Towson’s Marcus Damas and Bilal Dixon; and DJ McCommons from Cincinnati Christian.
DiNunno keyed two Eastern Kentucky runs that allowed the Colonels to overcome a 16-point deficit against Radford on Sunday and remain unbeaten. Green had the second highest point total in a game in the invitational with 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting from the field against EKU. Cummings’ 31 points against Radford were the most scored in a single game in the invitational and he became Kennesaw State’s all-time leading scorer with 13 points against Towson. Benimon posted two double-doubles in four games and was the only participant to average 10 or more rebounds per game.
The second team includes a pair of players that hit last second shots. Muff’s two free throws with 1.4 seconds left in overtime against Towson gave the Colonels the win. McCommons hit a game-tying jumper as the horn sounded to send CCU’s game against Radford to overtime.
