RICHMOND, Ky.
 – We continue our series of profiles on members of the Eastern Kentucky soccer team. Next up: sophomore Lorah Pund.

Pund, a goalkeeper from Fort Wayne, Indiana, won festival tickets on a radio contest.

EKUSports – Just walk me through the whole process of how you found out about winning the tickets.

Lorah Pund – I don't normally listen to the radio in my car, but one day I was making a quick trip, so I decided to listen to it. As soon as I turned it on, they were saying 'Call in now to win tickets!' They listed off the number and I was like 'You know what? Might as well.' I didn't even know what they were for. The first time I called, I got caller number 13, and then they said to call back. I didn't even know what number I was supposed to be, so I called again, and they were like 'Hey! You're caller number 25!' When they said that, I was like 'cool.' They told me I was in the drawing and listed off some of the people that were going to be at the festival. They asked me who I was excited to see, and I only knew the three people that they listed, so I just picked one. Off the air they told me I would find out if I won or not a couple weeks later.

ES – So then what happened?

LP – The two weeks went by, so I thought that I didn't win. I thought I would have gotten the call by then. I get in my car after work, and I had a voicemail telling me I had won. I called them back and they told me the details about it.

ES – What exactly did you win?

LP - I got two festival tickets, a hotel in downtown Cincinnati for the weekend, and they gave me travel expenses. It was crazy.

ES – Who were some of the people there?

LP – G-Eazy, Wiz Khalifa, John Bellian, 1975 ...

ES – I heard when you found out, you got into a traffic accident. Is that true?

LP – Yeah ... When they told me I had won, they said I was going to be on the radio in three minutes. I really wanted to hear myself on the radio. But I was driving in a construction area and when I went to turn up my radio ... I guess I looked down for too long.

ES – What did your parents think about the whole situation?

LP – I got home and my dad obviously wasn't happy that I wrecked my car. He asked me what I was doing, and I told him that I won the tickets. He couldn't believe it. When my mom got home, my dad and I are in the back trying to fix my car. She asked what was going on and I told her I had won the tickets. She couldn't believe it either. After that, she didn't really care about the car. She was excited for me.

ES – Well I'm glad it all worked out and you had a good time.

LP – It was kind of crazy because my sister claims that I got my mom's luck.

ES – What do you mean?

LP – My mom has a history of winning things on the radio. When I was five years old she won a trip to Disney World for five. My whole family got to go, so that was really cool. You get a 30-day suspension on when you can call back. She used to hit it on the dot; every 30 days she would win something.
