RICHMOND, Ky. – Former USA Softball Player of the Year, two-time National Professional Fastpitch All-Star and Big Ten Freshman of the Year
Stacy May-Johnson has joined the Eastern Kentucky University softball coaching staff, Head Coach
Jane Worthington announced this week.

May-Johnson comes to Richmond from West Lafeyette, Indiana where she was the assistant softball coach at Purdue University for one year. While at Purdue she led the infield to a Big Ten leading 26 double plays, had one second team All-Region selection and one first team All-Big Ten selection. Prior to Purdue May-Johnson was an assistant coach at the University of Louisville and the University of Iowa.

"Stacy is a great addition to our staff," stated Worthington. "She not only brings quality coaching and playing experience; she also brings the ability to recruit players from Kentucky and surrounding states. I am certain that she will be a great fit and that I will enjoy working with her."

Not only has May-Johnson coached at the highest ranks but has also competed at and is very decorated from the highest levels of the game.

May-Johnson has been a member of the United States National Team where she was named the USA Softball Player of the Year in 2011, was a World Cup Gold Medalist in 2011 and 2012, a Pan Am Gold Medalist in 2011 and a World Championship Silver Medalist in 2012. She also competed in the National Professional Fastpitch league where she was named the 2006 NPF Rookie of the Year, the 2008 and 2010 NPF League MVP, 2006, 2008 and 2010 NPF All-Star and was a member of the 2008 and 2011 NPF champion teams.

May-Johnson received her bachelor of arts in accounting and bachelor of science in physics from the University of Iowa in 2007 where she was named an Academic All-American and played for four years. Her accolades there included 2003 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, three time All-Big Ten selection and the 2005 and 2006 Team MVP.

"Coach Worthington is a great coach and person and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from and coach under her. Under her leadership and with the addition of a beautiful stadium and new indoor facility, the sky is the limit for her program. I am very excited to be a part of the softball staff and to see what new heights the program can achieve in the years to come."

May-Johnson went on to receive her masters of science in physics at the University of Louisville in 2009.
