2013 Middle School Offensive & Defensive Lineman and Skills Camp
Cost:
Two day overnight camp: $140 per player
Registration: 12 to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Moberly Building
Camp Features:
This camp is available to kids entering 6th through 8th grades (middle school). This camp is a contact camp and for those players who are serious about playing football. Helmets and shoulder pads are worn allowing more drills and technique work to be coached. Coaches will teach the fundamentals of each position on both sides of the ball. Run and pass blocking, routes and reads, one-on-one drills and individual position specific technique work will be taught on offense. Defeating blocks, pass rush, hand-to-hand techniques, reads, footwork and individual position specific technique will be emphasized on defense. Campers may split position instruction time at camp. Helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, practice jersey and cleats are required. Campers will stay in the resident halls, under a coach’s supervision and eat in the cafeteria.
Position Drills:
Every position will work on position specific
drills, fundamentals of tackling, and proper stance along with:
QB: Exchanges, learn different reads, learn different drops, throw skelly
RB: How to take a hand-off, fundamentals of blocking, route running, skelly
WR/TE: Route running, blocking skills, catching skills, how to get open
OL: Firing off the ball, hand and footwork, run and pass blocking, go against live blocking schemes
LB: Hand and footwork, live work against run and pass, pass drops, run reads, defeating the run and pass block, skelly
DB: Footwork, reads and coverages, getting off blocks, skelly
DL: Firing off the ball, hand and footwork, live work defeating run and pass blocks
