Kirk Moats joined the Eastern Kentucky University Athletics Department in September 2014 as Athletics Compliance Coordinator. Moats’ day-to-day responsibilities include initial eligibility evaluations on prospective student-athletes, updating and maintaining the incoming Signee Chart and Compliance Assistant and creating and distributing the monthly compliance newsletter for all student-athletes.
In the summer of 2020, Moats was promoted to associate athletics director.
Moats graduated from EKU with a M.S. in Physical Education in December 2014. While working on his master’s degree, Moats worked as the compliance intern until securing a full-time position with the Colonels. Moats also worked as an EKU Ticket Office volunteer, assisting with the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament seating chart and organized end-of-season attendance reports. Moats continues to assist EKU game-day operations in the areas of ticketing, marketing and facilities.
Prior to EKU, Moats worked as a compliance intern at Missouri State University, where he maintained LSDBI and Compliance Assistant and updated compliance manuals and spreadsheets.
Moats received his B.S. in Sport Administration from the University of Louisville in December 2013. Moats worked as a Student Athletic Council member during his tenure at Louisville, assisting with the Cardinal Chase – the student priority point system, and helping with event setup.
He and his wife Whitney have two sons, Miller and Wells.
